HISTORY

The Lenasia Muslim Association was constituted and established way back in 1961 by concerned parents and educationists when the only School in Lenasia was Alpha Primary. The primary objective of this organization was firstly to provide for a sound Islamic Education to our children when we were forcefully moved out of the Greater Johannesburg area under the now defunct apartheid laws and secondly to erect a masjid in the area in order to establish the five daily salaah and Juma'ha on a congregational  basis.

Since then Lenasia Muslim Association has been striving to serve the Muslim community of Lenasia and its surrounding areas  in the field of madressah education, running the affairs of seven masajid in Lenasia and looking after the welfare of the needy.

The services offered by the L.M.A have benefited thousands of Muslims adults and their children over the last 40 years. In fact, the L.M.A. is a household name in Lenasia.

Despite the financial difficulties that the L.M.A. endures in order to meet its commitments day after day, month after month & year after year, Alhumdulillah, its program of activities has increased in manifold ways.

In its 40 year history, The L.M.A. has educated no less than 40 000 pupils , who today are well establish in their lives based on the sound values inculcated in them during their formative years.

The L.M.A. is probably, the biggest teaching institute of its kind in the world. The L.M.A. textbooks and its syllabi are used worldwide in ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, THE AMERICAS, DUBAI, BOTSWANA, MALAWI, and even in SAUDI ARABIA.
